12-Day Iraq Tour Itinerary: From Basra to Erbil
Day 1: Arrival in Basra & City Exploration

- Stop at the confluence of the Tigris & Euphrates Rivers.
- Visit the legendary site of Adam’s Tree, believed to be from the Bible.

Day 3: Ancient Ur & The Holy City of Karbala

Day 4: The Fortresses of Al-Ukhaidir, Babylon & Saddam’s Palace
- Discover Al-Ukhaidir Fortress, an 8th-century Abbasid marvel in the desert.
- Explore Babylon, home to the legendary Hanging Gardens & Ishtar Gate.
- Visit Saddam Hussein’s Palace, overlooking the ruins of ancient Babylon.

Day 5: Baghdad – The Heart of Iraq
- Enjoy a traditional Baghdadi breakfast.
- Visit the National Museum of Iraq, home to some of the world’s oldest artifacts.
- Stroll through the historic book market, copper bazaars, and Shabandar Café.
- Stop by the Martyr’s Monument and, if possible, explore the Green Zone.

Day 6: A Journey to Fallujah

Day 7: Samarra, Hatra & Arrival in Mosul

Day 9: From Mosul to Kurdistan – Mar Mattai, Lalish & Duhok
- Cross into the Kurdistan region and meet our new Kurdish team.
- Visit Mar Mattai Monastery, near former ISIS frontlines.
- Explore Lalish, the holiest temple for the Yazidis.
- Enjoy dinner and overnight in Duhok.
Day 10: Amedi & The Scenic Road to Erbil
- Discover Amedi, a 5,000-year-old mountain town linked to the Three Wise Men.
- Drive through Iraq’s most scenic landscapes, stopping in Barzan, a key Kurdish nationalist site.
- Arrive in Erbil and relax.
- Overnight in Erbil.
Day 11: Erbil – The Ancient Kurdish Capital
- Visit Erbil’s 7,000-year-old Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Wander through the vibrant bazaar & Jalil Khayat Mosque.
- Enjoy drinks in Ankawa, the city’s Christian district Optional

Day 12: Departure from Erbil
- Enjoy a farewell breakfast before heading to Erbil International Airport.

8 - Day Kurdistan Tour Itinerary
Day 1: The arrival day into the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, Erbil City.
We will greet and pick you up at the arrival terminal of Erbil International Airport, Drive to the Center and Arrival to the hotel to Check in.
In the evening, we will get an introduction on Kurdistan tour, and then we’ll go out for exploring the city, Drinks and Dinner.✅

Day 2: Explore Erbil, Visiting Erbil Citadel, Explore the Bazaar
Today we explore Erbil, the city with Nearly 7,000 years of History, one of the oldest in the region and the world, we start with exploring the Museum and the old archaeological Mound of Qalinch Agha.
Erbil Citadel, seeing the old citadel is a unique journey through time, this ancient citadel stands as one of the oldest continuously inhabited places on Earth, dating back around 7,000 years. on the Citadel we explore the textile Museum and all the other parts which have dedicated to show case heritage and history of the Citadel. it is the highlight of the day.
Explore the bazaar, Jalil Khayat mosque and, in the evening, we can all go for drinks to the Christian district of Ankawa.
Dinner and overnight in Erbil.
DAY 3: Departure to Sulaymaniyah, See the old town of Koya and Explore the Red prison known as Amna Suraka and check-in.
Moring Departure towards the the city of Sulaymaniyah which is the second biggest City in Kurdistan Region after Erbil.
On our way to Sulaymaniyah we visit the old town of Koya, We will see the ancient Caravanserai in this town, as well we will visit the Qishla of koya town which is the most important historical site in this town, a little walk through the Bazaar is a well worth act, we take so.
On arrival in Sulaymaniyah we straight go to the Red prison, known as Amna Suraka, once it used to be a torture prison for Saddam Hussein’s regime, The prison is now an interesting museum.
after the Prison we will explore the bazaar, we can take tea/coffee in of the traditional tea houses here.
before Sun set we’ll drive up to Goyzha Mountain for the stunning view overlooking Sulaymaniyah, and then we will check-in the hotel, we have Group GO to Dinner and Drinks, very near to our Hotel, you can come back to the hotel anytime would like So. ( Optional)

Day 4: Drive to Visit Halabja Monument, and then Tawela on the Iranian boarder, arrival to Erbil.
Today we Visit Halabja town, only an hour drive from Sulaymaniyah, On March 16th 1988, the town was subjected to huge genocide. For five hours, chemical weapons were used against the civilians of Halabja, with over 5,000 killed and up to 10,000 injured. in this town we see the memorial site and the Museum as well we visit the mass Graves.
We drive to Tawela on the Iran border, and used to be a clash line in the Iran/Iraq war. and then Drive to Erbil

Day 5: Explore the Nature of Kurdistan, view of the amazing landscape, and the unique Hamilton Road.
We Drive to Rawanduz where We find the most beautiful landscapes, The gorges, canyons, rivers, lakes and mountains.
On our Route, We stop at Shaqlawa Twon ,Bekhal Waterfall and Gali Ali Bag Waterfall. as Well we can experience to go 1600 high up to the korek mountain.
Our highlight site of the day is Hamilton Road, New Zealand Hamilton to Built the Road between 1928 - 1932, and it’s one of the greatest engineering Roads of the 20th century. The road is going the through the mountains valleys. as well we can take chance to ride a self-driving rollercoaster, then at the end take a ride of the korek cablecar to the 1600 Meter high Mountain by there.

Day 6: Explore Shanidar Cave, Amadiya and Saddam Palace, the Drive to Duhok
Travel to the historic Shanidar cave.
Then head to Amadiya, a captivating mountain village. Stroll through its beautiful streets, visit the mosque and church, and explore the ancient town gate.
Discover the ruins of Qubahan School, an ancient madrassa.
Then to Saddam Hussein's former mountaintop palace, understanding why he chose this location. Explore the palace ruins and enjoy the breathtaking views.
Continue your journey towards Duhok, where you can tour the lively Duhok Bazaar, Visit a tea house dedicated to martyrs who lost their lives to fight against ISIS.

Day 7: Drive to Alqosh, Lalish journey of Akre then Arrive to Erbil.
Leave Duhok and head to Alqosh, one of the world's oldest monasteries nestled in the mountains, Technically part of Iraq Proper. Afterward, drive for an hour to Lalesh, the holiest town for the Yazidi religion. Explore the temple, meet locals on pilgrimage, and learn about their challenging history with ISIS.
Then, continue the journey to Akre, The town was built on the side of a mountain range by the Kurdish Prince Zand in 580 B.C. Akre is rich in historical sites, and mineral springs can be found near the town.
finally drive to Erbil, Dinner and over night in Erbil
Day 8: Departure from Erbil
Enjoy a local farewell breakfast before heading to Erbil International Airport.
